APPENDIX “C”
PADRE’S D.R.O. Date: 23 JUL./43.
“Two of our aircraft failed to return”, clear concise words uttered daily over the CBC, We have heard them so often that the full import of their meaning is not always realized, and yet it may be that boys trained here on our station have made the supreme sacrifice in the fight against facism, and in the service of their country. It can strike much closer than that, for many of us have husbands, brothers and life long friends in operational squadrons overseas. Letters from the boys who roam the skies over enemy territory tell us of their thoughts. They gain strength from the knowledge that we are praying for them it gives them courage and confidence. Our conversations with God must be sincere and regular, not pleading for safety, but requesting a faith that is strong and well able to withstand the shocks and tragedies of a world at war. Our diligence in prayer and our concern for things Christian is then, as important in attaining Victory, as is our loyalty to the duties that confront us from day to day.

A TEXT
“Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life”.
(John 6:68)
A THOUGHT
“One man with courage makes a majority”.
A POEM
“Dwell deep! The little things that chafe and fret
Oh, waste not golden hours to give them heed!
The slight, the thoughtless wrong, do thou forget;
Be self-forgot in serving others’ need;
Thou, faith in God, through love for many shalt keep
Dwell deep, my soul, dwell deep!
A STORY
“How can I ever show my appreciation?” gushed a woman to her lawyer, after he had solved her legal troubles.
“My dear woman”, replied the lawyer, “ever since the Phoenicians invented money there has been only one answer to that question.”
A PRAYER
O God, commit Thy Truth to the hearts of faithful men, that soon the knowledge of thee may cover the earth.
Amen
Your friend and Padre
E.S. Light
