Hi. I’m writing my dad’s wartime story – Thomas ‘Tony’ Carter RCAF. My dad trained at No. 8 SFTS Moncton and graduated on Course 54. Do you have any further information you could share with me on this course and, in particular, the student pilots who were on it? 48 graduated and 2 were KIFA, but I don’t know how many others washed out. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Ron
Dear Sir, madam,
Please allow me to introduce myself: I am a Dutch volunteer and board member of the Foundation Fields of Honor https://fieldsofhonorfoundation.com/ and the moderator of our USAAF Class Book Project https://www.usaafclassbookproject.nl/
At present I am searching for a ‘hard to find photograph’ of an American who worked and trained with the RCAF and apparently graduated from 8 SFTS. I found a reference to Harold H. Spicer’s graduation in a newspaper article dated 29th May 1943 (The Times Transcript, Moncton, Moncton Parish, New Brunswick, Canada). 1Lt Higson was killed in a flying accident while flying with the USAAF’s 371st Fighter Group.
You can find more info on 1Lt Harold Spicer Higson, on our ‘Fields of Honor Database file’ on him: https://www.fieldsofhonor-database.com/index.php/en/american-war-cemetery-luxembourg-s/87910-spicer-harold-h-lux-h-14-67
Given the level of detail of your website I have high hopes that you can maybe supply us with a photograph from your files, depicting Harold Spicer.
We would appreciate your help so that we can honor Harold’s sacrifice for our freedom and that we can finally add a face to his name in our files.
I look forward to hear from you soon!
Best regards from the Netherlands,
