  1. David Haines

My father, Geoffrey Haines, was a pilot instructor at #39 (Swift Current) between 6/12/41 and 24/3/44 ,with a spell at #37 (Calgary) 14/12/41 and 21/9/42. I have his log books which have the names of all those that he trained.

  2. Mike Bostock

My father, Eric F. Bostock was a flying instructor at 39 SFTS, Swift Current. He completed elementary training at RAF Ansty, Warwickshire, UK. He graduated with his wings at Swift Current and was sent to Moncton, New Brunswick from where he was posted to Flying Instructor Training. My father instructed on Airspeed Oxfords from early 1942 to base closure in May1944. He returned to the U.K. and undertook HCU and OTU being posted to RAF Kirmington, Lincolnshire in June 1945, flying Avro Lancasters.

I have my father’s log books, and several albums of his photographs of life at 39 SFTS including aerial photographs. Also a poignant personal autograph book signed with photos of all his student pilots.

    Per Adua Ad Astra.
